Producing notes of various register demands a different amount of strength. The higher and louder the notes are, the greater pressure is required. How does it work?
The device is designed to interrupt the buzz as soon as trombonists press the mouthpiece against the lips too hard. When holding in a static position with no pressure applied on the lips, the optimizer lets the air column come through the trombone. However, when trombonists apply excessive pressure, the system activates and prevents the air from coming through the instrument, and musicians immediately realize that they are using too much pressure.
The advanced construction
The construction of our trombone optimizer features magnets: one is set up in the upper part, the other in the lower part.
